Construction Continues but Nears Completion

If you haven’t had a chance to visit the new facility, we are excited to report that there continues to be substantial progress in construction, making opening a soon-to-be realized reality. These are busy and exciting times for our team.

In December we received delivery of the main electrical switch gear. By next month we expect to receive the CPM BetaRaven automation and control panels. Electrical connections and wiring motors and controls will continue into the spring with commissioning of the main plant scheduled for late April to early May. Delivery of the grain center motor control is anticipated in May 2023. Read future newsletter editions for progress on the pilot plant, educational space and rest of the facility.

"Our purpose is to deliver students to the industry who have had exposure to grain and feed operations before seeing it as an employee for the first time."

- Anthony Ewing, Manager and Associate Director

If You Build It They Will Come

Since April 2022, we have hosted 41 onsite meetings and tours with over 620 guests. Adorned with hardhats and safety vests, guests have had the opportunity to see the facility during this construction phase to get a feel of its unique features and why it will be a top destination for research, training of students, and ongoing outreach to the global grain industry. The only of its kind in the world, we have shared our future plans and goals with a global range of visitors. We can’t wait to see who 2023 brings to visit us!

"You have great facilities and great people running them. I have definitely recommended that we stay in touch for the future on more ways to collaborate and showcase everything that is done at ISU and your department." - Tour Participant
